FIFA World Ranking: Germany rise to fourth

The World Champions have gained momentum a week ahead of EURO 2016 in France (10th June to 10th July) as the Germany national team rose to fourth in the FIFA World Ranking. Joachim Löw’s side who are currently preparing intensively for the European Championship at their training camp in Ascona overtook Chile (1,293) with their tally of 1,310 points. World Cup runners-up Argentina (1,503) sit atop the standings with Belgium (1,384) second and Columbia (1,328) third.

Ukraine, who Germany will face in their first group match at the European Championship (12th June, 21:00 CEST) moved up three places from 22nd to 19th, Poland (16th June, 21:00 CEST) stayed 27th and their final group-stage opponents Northern Ireland are 25th, their highest placing since the FIFA World Ranking was created in 1993.

Overall, 45 international matches were considered, including four 2018 World Cup qualifiers from Oceania. The next edition of the FIFA World Ranking will be published on 14th July 2016.
