FC Bayern without problems, Dresden win local derby

A total of six Bundesliga teams have to say goodbye after the first round of the DFB Cup. After the hottest weekend of the year they have been beaten by the outsiders. Hamburger SV, Werder Bremen, promoted teams Greuther Fuerth and Eintracht Frankfurt, 1. FC Nuremberg and caught mainly 1899 Hoffenheim, ended the German Cup games a week before the league start unexpectedly.

Record cup-champion Bayern München had no problems on Monday. The team of coach Jupp Heynckes won 4-0 at Jahn Regensburg. Mario Mandzukic scored twice, Xherdan Shaqiri and Claudio Pizarro made the final score. With Dynamo Dresden, SV Sandhausen and 1. FC Union Berlin are also three teams from 2nd league in the second round.

Karlsruher SC beat Hamburger SV 4-2 (1-2), at the same time Havelse won against 1. FC Nürnberg 3-2 (2-2, 1-1) after extra time. Weder Bremen had to say goodbye after a 2-4 (2-2, 1-0) defeat by Preußen Münster. Last but not least, Eintracht Frankfurt had to pack their bags after losing 0-3 (0-1) against Erzgebirge Aue.

Regionalliga side Berliner AK 07 handed Bundesliga team 1899 Hoffenheim a painful exit out of the DFB Cup. The fourth league amateurs thrashed the team of coach Markus Babbel in an unprecedented manner 4-0 (3-0) and entered Round 2. Later the day SpVgg Greuther Fürth lost against Thrid League side Kickers Offenbach 0-2 (0-1). Titleholders Borussia Dortmund (3-0 at FC Oberneuland) as well as VfB Stuttgart (5-0 at SV Falkensee-Finkenkrug) and Bayer Leverkusen (4-0 at Carl Zeiss Jena) qualified with ease.

FC Augsburg were the first Bundesliga team to qualify for the 2nd round of the DFB Cup on Friday with a 2-0 (1-0) at Regionalliga side SV Wilhelmshaven. Second Bundesliga sides Eintracht Braunschweig and FSV Frankfurt were successful against fourth league rivals as well. Braunschweig had no problems during their 3-0 at VfB Lübeck, while Frankfurt had to battle hard for their 2-1 at SG Sonnenhof Großaspach.
