The world champion is back in keeper-training. On Thursday morning, Manuel Neuer completed a “light, keeper-specific training session”, and made his first saves in more than half a year. In the week before Easter, the Bayern keeper made his return to the pitch for a running session on his 32nd birthday.
In September 2017, Neuer picked up a hairline fracture in the middle of his left foot, and has not been able to play a game of football since. “I’m doing very well”, declared a happy Neuer about two weeks ago on FC Bayern TV, after he had been able to walk “completely normally” again. He went on to say that his comeback was now “in sight”, and that it was “realistic” to hope for a return to action this season. However, he also cautioned that “no one can predict the exact date. Not me, nor any doctor or fitness trainer.”
