FC Bayern claim the title

FC Bayern München have wrapped up the Allianz Frauen-Bundesliga title with two games to go. Thomas Wörle’s side beat Bayer Leverkusen 5-0 on Sunday. The result means that they have now won the championship on three occasions – they also lifted it in 1976 and 2015. The Bavarians are 12 points clear of VfL Wolfsburg, who are second, with just nine left to play for, meaning that it is impossible for them to lose grip of top spot.

The Munich side dominated from start to finish and hit the front after 25 minutes thanks to a header from Vivianne Miedema. Mana Iwabuchi doubled their lead moments later. Midema completed her treble after the break (51’, 57’), with Sara Däbritz completing the scoring with 10 play. Bayern have won nine of their 10 home matches this season.
