Germany are on course in their qualifying group for EURO 2016 in France. With ten points, the World Champions lie in third place, level with Scotland and a point behind leaders Poland in Group D. Before Joachim Löw’s side continue their quest for qualification on Saturday against Gibraltar in Faro (20:45 CEST), first they will face the USA in a friendly at the Rhein-Energie-Stadion in Cologne on Wednesday (20:45 CEST).

DFB.de has all the facts and figures ahead of the showdown against former Germany manager Jürgen Klinsmann.

Record I: The match against the USA is the 901st in Germany’s long, decorated history. Since their first match on 5th April 1908, there have been 523 wins, 183 draws and 194 defeats. The goal difference from the 900 games, in which 915 players have represented Germany, is 2021:1069 in the DFB-Team's favour.

Record II: Wednesday's match in Cologne will see Joachim Löw manage Germany for the 121st time since his debut in August 2006. He record is currently 81 wins, 22 draws, 17 defeats. Joachim Löw has used 99 players in those 120 games, giving 74 players their international debuts for Germany, the most recent being Jonas Hector in the last match against Gibraltar. Patrick Herrmann from Borussia Mönchengladbach could be the 75th against the USA on Wednesday.

Record III: Germany are set to face USA for the eleventh time and boast a positive record: From the previous ten matches, Germany have ran out winners on seven occasions, whilst the USA have won the other three. The DFB-Team will have fond memories of the last outing as they beat their North American opponents 1-0 in Recife on the way to their fourth World Cup win. Thomas Müller fired the eventual champions to victory with a delightful curling effort in the game’s only goal. The Bayern München player won’t be able to repeat his heroics this time round, as Joachim Löw has sent the 25-year-old on a well-earned holiday.

Record players: Lothar Matthäus is the most-capped player for Germany. He made 150 appearances for the DFB-Team between 1980 and 2000. Lukas Podolski holds the most caps from Germany's current squad with 123 appearances, whilst captain Bastian Schweinsteiger (109) has also made more than 100 appearances for his country.

Record goalscorers: Miroslav Klose is Germany's all-time top goalscorer with 71 goals, only just ahead of the legendary Gerd Müller (68 goals). Müller took just 62 games to rack up his tally, while Klose made 137 appearances before retiring after the World Cup triumph in 2014. From Germany's current squad, Lukas Podolski has bagged the most goals (48), followed by Bastian Schweinsteiger (23) and Mesut Özil (18).

Kits: Germany will wear their famous white adidas kit, of course with four stars above the crest, in Cologne. The USA play in their blue number.

Referee: The match will be officiated by Dutchman Danny Makkelie, whilst his fellow countrymen Mario Diks and Hessel Steegstra will support him on the touchline. Kevin Blom will be the fourth official.
