FA Cup: Sané scores for Man City but Can and Klopp knocked out

German international Leroy Sané helped steer Manchester City into the fifth round of the English FA Cup in a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace. Goals from Raheem Sterling and Yaya Touré either side of Sané's strike were enough to send Pep Guardiola's team through.

Emre Can and Liverpool FC suffered a fourth round exit in the FA Cup against Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers. Jürgen Klopp’s men were surprisingly beaten by the underdogs, who secured a 2-1 win at Anfield, inflicting a third straight competitive defeat on the Reds. Richard Stearman grabbed the opener just 52 seconds into the game before Austrian Andreas Weimann doubled the visitors’ lead before the break.

Liverpool increased the pressure on the Wolves after the break, but only managed to pull a goal back after 86 minutes through Belgium international Divock Origi. It was too late and not even Can, who was brought into the game midway through the second half, was able to prevent his side from Cup elimination.

In the late kick-off, Bayern München’s upcoming Champions League opponents Arsenal won convincingly 5-0 against Southampton. Mesut Özil didn’t feature, though fellow countryman and national teammate Shkodran Mustafi played the whole game. After a long injury lay-off, Per Mertersacker was an unused substitute. Arsene Wenger’s side won comfortably thanks to a brace from Danny Welbeck (15’, 22’) and a Theo Walcott hat trick (35’, 69’, 85’).
