EURO 2020: DFB among 19 applicants to host matches

The German Football Association (DFB) and 18 other national football associations have submitted their applications to host games at EURO 2020. By the time of Saturday night’s deadline, the European Football Union (UEFA) had only received two “bid books” for the package to host both semi-finals and the final, from Germany and England.

“We are confident that, together with our partners, we have submitted a strong application, and hope that UEFA will be convinced by our top-quality environment and the enthusiasm of fans in Germany,” said DFB General Secretary Helmut Sandrock.

“We are extremely happy to have received so many bids to host EURO 2020,” said UEFA President Michel Platini. “By spreading the tournament across the entire continent, we will allow more fans from more nations to share in the excitement of hosting this event. I wish all the candidates the best of luck.”
