Emre Can wins against Bournemouth with Liverpool

Germany U21 international Emre Can secured his and Liverpool's second league win of the season in the final game of the second weekend of Premier League action. The Reds ran out 1-0 winners in their home match against promoted side Bournemouth to move up to joint third place, level on points and goal difference with Bastian Schweinsteiger's Manchester United.

Although there was little to separate the two teams for much of the game, Liverpool made the breakthrough courtesy of new signing Christian Benteke, who scored his first league goal for Liverpool in the 26th minute after being set up by Jordan Henderson. Can entered the fray on 52 minutes and helped to preserve Liverpool's lead until the final whistle, whilst former Hoffenheim striker Roberto Firmino was brought on by the hosts for the final 20 minutes.
