Elite Cup: Germany U20 face England in 'final'

The Germany U19 did their job on Monday , and the U20s will be hoping to follow suit today (18:00 CEST). Germany will face England in their final match of the Mercedes Benz Elite Cup, and will be hoping to take home the trophy. Both teams have won all their matches so far, but as England have the better goal difference, Frank Wormuth’s side will require a win to claim the Elite Cup.

"We are looking forward to the 'final' against England. It will be a huge challenge for the team. Of course we want to win the game – and perform well in the process. I am more interested in how we present ourselves as a team, how we perform tactically on the pitch and how we react to our oppositions' game plan," said Wormuth.

Wormuth had no bad news to report ahead of the match. All 23 players are ready to play and determined to get the win. No news yet though on which starting XI the manager will put out. The only certainty is that Fabian Bredlow will start in goal. All three keepers in the squad will then have all played one game each.

After a 1-0 win against Turkey, the coach changed the team significantly, and started a completely different eleven players in the 2-1 win over the Netherlands. Many players put in commanding performances in the two games, particularly Luca Waldschmidt, Nadiem Amiri, Max Dittgen, Max Christiansen, Boubacar Barry and Thilo Kehrer.

The team will have a light training session in the morning before they kick off in the Voith-Arena in Heidenheim at 18:00 CEST. Tickets can be bought 90 minutes before the start of the match on the door.
