Draxler leads PSG to Cup victory

World Champion Julian Draxler provided a goal and an assist in PSG’s 4-1 league cup final victory over AS Monaco, securing his first title with the Parisians. Draxler bagged the 1-0 opener just four minutes into the game, finishing off a well executed move with the assist coming from Argentine international Angel Di Maria.

The final was packed full of pace and chances at both ends, and Monaco were back level after 27 minutes when Thomas Lemar found the back of the net. Just before the break, Draxler returned the favour for Di Maria, setting up the goal which restored his side’s 2-1 lead. Edinson Cavani scored PSG’s third goal just ten minutes into the second half and while Monaco attempted to get back into the game, Cavani wrapped things up just before of full time.

Schweinsteiger scores on Chicago debut

What a way for Bastian Schweinsteiger to kick off his career in the MLS. The World Champion scored the 1-0 opener just 17 minutes into his first outing with new club Chicago Fire in a 2-2 draw with Montreal Impact. It could have been the perfect debut for the 31-year-old, but Montreal equalised through Matteo Mancosu on the hour mark and even took the lead in the 90th minute through Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla. Chicago still managed to salvage a draw however, as Luis Solignac equalised four minutes into stoppage time.

Schweinsteiger did not only impress through his goal though, as he also created a number of chances for his team which prompted applause from the fans. The former FC Bayern star joined Chicago from Manchester United at the end of March.

Rüdiger wins with Roma
