Dortmund's bad form continues

Hertha BSC’s improving home form continued in Jos Luhukay’s 100th game as a Bundesliga manager. Hertha beat Hamburger SV 3-0 in the Olympic Stadium. Änis Ben-Hatira (59’ and 85’) and John Heitinga (65’) scored for the home side, whilst defeat sees HSV remain in the relegation zone.

Leverkusen climb into fourth spot

The evening game saw Bayer 04 Leverkusen face Schalke 04. After a sluggish first half, the home side took the lead through Hakan Calhanoglu's delightful 53rd minute free kick. The hosts remained in control for the rest of the game, but had to play the final five minutes with ten men thanks to Tin Jedvaj's red card. The game marks Schalke's first defeat under Roberto Di Matteo.

Dortmund’s Bundesliga blues continue, as they suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Hannover 96 just three days after their impressive 4-0 away victory to Galatasaray in the Champions League. BVB are now without a win in six league games. Hiroshi Kiyotake scored for the visitors on the hour mark with a stunning free kick. It was Hannover’s first away goal of the season, as Dortmund’s bad run of form in the Bundesliga continues.

Veh’s Stuttgart record a thrilling 5-4 victory in Frankfurt

Armin Veh returned to his old stomping ground with new club VfB Stuttgart and guided his new employers to victory. A thrilling 90 minutes in Frankfurt produced nine goals. Martin Harnik (34’ and 36’), Christian Gentner (51’ and 84’) and Timo Werner (81’) scored for Stuttgart; Alexander Madlung (21’ and 65’), Alex Meier (57’) and Stefan Aigner (61’) were on target for the hosts.

Hoffenheim extend their unbeaten record

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim are now unbeaten in 10 Bundesliga games after beating SC Paderborn 1-0. Kevin Volland grabbed the winner in the 73rd minute to spare Sebastian Rudy’s blushes. The Germany international missed a fifth minute penalty. Victory means that TSG are still within touching distance of table toppers FC Bayern München.

Still no victory for Freiburg

SC Freiburg are yet to record a victory this season. They didn’t pose much of a threat to FC Augsburg, who won the clash 2-0. Their goals came from Captain Paul Verhaegh (11’) and Hali Altintop (66’). Augsburg have now won three Bundesliga home games in a row.
