Dortmund go second after five-goal thriller

Defending champions Borussia Dortmund went second in the Bundesliga on Sunday after a thrilling 3-2 victory at Bayer Leverkusen, but remain 12 points adrift of league leaders Bayern München.

Dortmund's away win allowed them to claim second spot from Bayer, but it was a battle royal as the hosts came from 2-0 down to level before Poland striker Robert Lewandowski's winner settled Borussia's nerves.

Leaders Bayern München kept their rhythm by winning 3-0 (1-0) at FSV Mainz 05 on Saturday. Meanwhile Schalke 04 suffered another setback after falloing 1-2 (0-0) at home to rock-bottom SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

First victory in 2013: Werder Bremen won 2-0 against Hannover 96 on Friday. Striker Nils Petersen scored twice and released Werder with his goals in the 85th and 88th minute.

On Sunday (3.30 pm), 1. FC Nürnberg plays Borussia Mönchengladbach and two hours later, Bayer Leverkusen welcomes Borussia Dortmund. The winner of the match is runner-up and Bayern hunter number one.
