Die Mannschaft training camp in Ascona to start on 24th May

Germany manager Joachim Löw and has pushed back his squad’s expected arrival at the Ascona training camp to the 24th May (originally planned on 23rd) so that everyone can travel together. The only exception being Toni Kroos, who is involved in the Champions League final with Real Madrid against Atlético Madrid on 28th May (20:45 CEST) in Milan.

"Starting our preparations for the European Championship with the whole squad together was always the ideal scenario from the national team’s perspective,” said Germany manager Löw. “But we didn’t expect this to be possible. Bayern's elimination from the Champions League has changed the situation. It was always arranged that the players involved in the DFB Cup final (on 21st May between Bayern München and Borussia Dortmund) would arrive in Ascona on 24th May to have time recover. Now we have decided to make that the arrival date for the whole squad.”

Die Mannschaft will fly from Frankfurt to Lugano on 24th May and complete their first training session at the Stadio Comunale, FC Ascona’s home ground, in the early evening. The travelling squad will be decided on 17th May when Joachim Löw announces his preliminary squad for the EUROs in France during a press conference at the French embassy in Berlin.”
