Die Mannschaft romp to friendly win against U20s

Two Germany national teams went head-to-head over four 20-minute periods in Ticino on Thursday evening. Just like during preparations for the 2014 World Cup, the U20s are the senior team’s training partners ahead of EURO 2016.

The U20s task during the training camp is to simulate Germany’s group-stage opponents. If the 80 minutes played on Thursday are anything to go by, there’s plenty of reason to be optimistic for the finals in France, as the World Champions ran out 7-0 winners.

There were three goals scored in the opening two quarters, with Götze breaking the deadlock on 19 minutes, before strikes from Mario Gomez and Leroy Sané. The third quarter finished goalless, before a Karim Bellarabi brace and goals from André Schürrle and finally Julian Draxler wrapped up a 7-0 win.
