Die Mannschaft are back in Germany

Die Mannschaft have safely arrived back in Germany. Their plane landed in Frankfurt early on Saturday morning. The DFB Team players and staff spent the night in the Stade de France.

They were due to travel to Hannover today, however, that journey will no longer take place. They are due to play the Netherlands in the city on Tuesday. Any events due to take place surrounding the match today in the city have been cancelled. “We’re glad that we managed to successfully organise our departure,” explained DFB Security Commissioner Hendrik Große Lefert. “Everything else will be dealt with later.”

Further detalis to follow in due course

It has not yet been decided whether Tuesday’s game will take place. “We want to think about it for a day and then decide what to do,” explained Dr. Reinhard Rauball, 1st DFB Vice-President and delegation leader of the national team. “However, I believe that we shouldn’t let terror get the better of us.”

Dr. Rainer Koch agrees: “Obviously we need to make sure that security precautions have been taken. I personally feel that the DFB and the national team should send a message that terror won’t get the better of us.” A final decision regarding the staging of the match will take place on Sunday.

Oliver Bierhoff added that “we’ll have discussions and then make a decision on whether we’ll play or not.” He then went on to say that “our thoughts are with the victims and their families. We’re happy that we’re safe. Everyone conducted themselves in a very professional manner.”
