DFB women face England in Duisberg

The last home game for the Germany national women’s team will take place on the 26th November in Duisburg. This was decided by the DFB today at a meeting in Frankfurt. Head manager Silvia Neid’s side face strong opposition, as England will line up against them at the Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena in what will be a repeat of the third-place playoff at the Canada World Cup this summer. The match will begin at 18:00 CEST.

Silvia Neid said: "England showed at the World Cup in Canada that they have developed a lot as a team. We are looking forward a game which will be of a very high standard. These types of games are very important for us in order to continue our development as a team."

Angerer and Sasic send-off

The match is not your average friendly, as certain events have been planned to compliment the game. Before kick-off for example, Nadine Angerer and Celia Sasic, who retired from international duty after the World Cup, will have their official send-off. National team manager Doris Fitschen explained: "The game against England is not only an important part of preparation for the Olympic games, but it also represents an opportunity to put on a real show for our fans. We also have a few surprises planned."

Before the culmination of the national team’s season in Duisberg, the Germany side will face Hungary as part of their 2017 European Championship qualification campaign (18th September, 16:00 CEST), before lining up against Croatia in Zagreb on the 22nd September (18:00 CEST). They then face Russia in Wiesbaden on the 22nd October (16:00 CEST) before playing Turkey in Sandhausen on the 25th October (14:15 CEST).
