Because of the second leg in the finals of the UEFA-Cup German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel visited the DFB on Saturday. Ahead of the match between 1. FFC Frankfurt and 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam president Dr. Theo Zwanziger and General Secretary of the DFB, Horst R. Schmidt, gave the Chancellor a welcome.
As well Merkel took part in a press conference entitled "Integration by sports, especially football", in which the new President of the DOSB an Vice President of the IOC, Dr. Thomas Bach, was also involved. Dr. Zwanziger presented the new programme "Integration by sports, especially football" of the German Football Association.
Dr. Theo Zwanziger said: "I'm glad to be able to welcome the Chancellor at the DFB. Angela Merkel has shown in her short term of office her nearness to football, especially to women's and girl's football, for several times. For this support I'm very thankful."
