DFB schedule the DFB-Pokal second round matches: Leipzig against Bayern on 25th October

The DFB (German Football League) have released the schedule and timings for the second round of the DFB-Pokal. The biggest tie of the round between last season’s Bundesliga runner-up RB Leipzig and record cup champions Bayern Munich will kick off at 20:45 (CEST) on Wednesday 25th October.

On Tuesday 24th October, the first four ties will take place at 18:30 (CEST) – including the traditional Rheinderby between 2. Bundesliga leaders Fortuna Düsseldorf and Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach. Then from 20:45 (CEST), defending champions Borussia Dortmund will take on third division outfit 1. FC Magdeburg, and three other ties also begin at that time.

Four all-Bundesliga ties in round two

The early kick-offs at 18:30 (CEST) on Wednesday 25th October will include two all-Bundesliga clashes, with Hertha BSC going up against 1. FC Köln and VfL Wolfsburg taking on Hannover 96. Then the final top-tier battle of the second round between Werder Bremen and 1899 Hoffenheim will get going at the same time as the big game in Leipzig.

The winners of the ties will compete in the round of 16 on the 19th/20th December. The quarter-finals will then take place on 6th/7th February, with the semi-finals on 17th/18th April. The final showpiece will be on 19th May at 20:00 (CEST) in Berlin’s Olympiastadion.
