DFB names Ralf Köttker as assistant general secretary

Following the election of Reinhard Grindel as President and Dr. Stephan Osnabrügge as treasurer, as well as the appointment of Dr. Friedrich Curtius as general secretary, the DFB is continuing with its reshuffling of its management positions.

Ralf Köttker, 46, will take over the role of assistant general secretary with immediate effect. The former journalist will continue as director of communication and maintain his role as leader of DFB-Online.

DFB President Reinhard Grindel said: "Ralf Köttker has been with the DFB since 2009 and knows every facet of our association as our long-term media director. He was among the group of people who re-established our digital division and has been involved in several strategic decisions in the past as a member of our management team. His qualities will complement our general secretary Dr. Friedrich Curtius very well."

Englisch new legal director; Bergmoser takes over finances

The roles of legal director, sporting jurisdiction, finance, human resources, IT and central services are also being reassigned. The legal and sporting jurisdiction positions will now be independent and led by Dr. Jörg Englisch (51), who has been with the DFB since 1995 and has been the head of the association's legal department since 2007.

The financial, human resources, IT and central services sectors will now be led by Dr. Ulrich Bergmoser (52). The prominent management expert has been chief financial officer of several companies in Great Britain and partner of an internationally renowned consultancy firm. Dr. Bergmoser has dealt in depth with issues of restructuring and strategy in the past and has undertaken successful reorganisation programmes at large firms.

Reinhard Gridel explained: "The introduction of an independent legal department under the leadership of Dr. Englisch has come about as a result of the results of the Freshfields investigation into the 2006 World Cup. We now have an internationally experienced and recognised expert in charge of our financial, human resources IT and central services departments. It was important for us to find an external specialist for this position who can help us with his know-how and view from outside.
