As they are due to make excess profits this year, The DFB presidential board has decided to donate one million Euros to charitable organizations.
The Bundesliga foundation will receive 500,000 Euros from the DFB. The other 500,000 Euros will be shared between the DFB Egidius Braun foundation (120,000 Euros), the Robert Enke foundation (100,000 Euros), the Fritz-Walter foundation (70,000 Euros), the Sepp Herberger foundation (60,000 Euros) and the DFB Kultur foundation (50,000 Euros). The Uwe Seeler foundation will celebrate Seeler’s 80th birthday this Saturday and will receive a higher donation of 100,000 Euros than the 60,000 Euros they usually receive.
The DFB presidential board will decide how to split the rest of the money in March 2017. DFB treasurer Dr. Stephan Osnabrügge spoke on the matter. “We have fulfilled our social responsibility by donating our profits to our charitable foundations and other non-profit organizations. We know that our profits will be used for a good purpose. I’m pleased that we have been able to really support the work of these organizations again this year.”
