The Federal Republic of Germany officially recognised Kosovo as a free and independent national state on 20 February 2008. Since May 2012, the Football Association of Kosovo FIFA has been authorised by FIFA to play official matches against other FIFA members.
In such a young state there are plenty of needs and requirements, especially on the structural level. Therefore the DFB was honoured to have been asked to support the Football Association in the area of coach education and to host a UEFA C-Licence course in Pristina.
DFB expert Jochen Figge imparted a three-week coaching course for 30 participants, where indoor lessons and on-pitch practical demonstrations focused on, amongst others, match analysis and the training of counterattacks. Special attention was also been paid to the development phases in youth football.
After three instructive and challenging weeks all 30 participants passed their exams and are proud holders of the first coaching licences handed out by the Kosovan Football Association.
