DFB Cup second round fixtures

FC Bayern vs. FC Augsburg is quickly becoming a familiar fixture in the DFB Cup. The two Bavarian clubs faced each other in the last 16 of the competition in the 2012/13 season and the 2013/14 season. Bayern made it through on both occasions with a 2-0 win, each one in Augsburg. The two teams will clash yet again in this season’s second round of the tournament, this time in the Bavarian capital.

The first four matches will be played on Tuesday, 25th October. Among other things Lotte’s fans are hoping for another shock result. After their team’s win against Werder Bremen in the first round, the Drittliga side now take on Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

Repeat of the first ever DFB Cup final

Four more games will be played from 20:45 CEST on the 25th October. VfB Stuttgart travel to Champions League participants Borussia Mönchengladbach, while FC St. Pauli welcome Hertha BSC. There will be an all Bundesliga tie in Frankfurt when Eintracht take on FC Ingolstadt. Hallesche FC will also come up against Hamburger SV.

There will also be four encounters kicking off at 18:30 CEST, with four more fixtures kicking off at 20:45 CEST. An interesting side plot will take place in Franconia in a replay of the first ever DFB Cup final in 1935. FC Nürnberg will play against FC Schalke 04 in a repeat of the 1935 final where Nürnberg won 2-0 to secure the first ever DFB Cup.
