DFB Cup draw to take place this evening

The DFB Cup round of 16 ties will take place in mid-December and we’ll find out who is playing who later this evening (19:30 CET). The draw will be made by Vanessa Mai and overseen by DFB General Secretary Helmut Sandrock.

The 16 remaining teams in the competition ply their trade in the top four tiers of German football. Bayern München, Hertha BSC, Darmstadt 98, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, FC Augsburg, Werder Bremen, Borussia Mönchengladbach and VfB Stuttgart are representing the Bundesliga. The second-tier sides left in the Cup are 1. FC Nürnberg, 1860 München, VfL Bochum, 1. FC Heidenheim and Eintracht Braunschweig. Erzgebirge Aue (third division) and SpVgg Unterhaching (Regionalliga) complete the line-up.

Finer details

The ties will take place in accordance with the competition’s rules – that is to say that the team drawn out first will play at home, unless the second team pulled out is an amateur side. In those instances, the amateur side will host the tie.

Erzgebirge Aue and SpVgg Unterhaching are the only remaining amateur sides in the competition. If they are drawn out to face each other, the side taken out first will play at home. If either of them are drawn out second against any other side, the tie will take place in their stadium.
