DFB Consulting trains Euro volunteers in Ukraine

The key role of the volunteer team in the success of the UEFA Euro 2012 and the main challenges involved in the overall volunteer organisation were at the core of the two-day workshop organised by DFB Consulting on behalf of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) that finished today in Kiev.

The focus of the event was on the experiences acquired by the DFB in the area of volunteer management during both the 2006 FIFA World Cup and the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011. Furthermore, DFB Consulting provided the Host City volunteer coordinators with a specific insight into the volunteering task at a big sporting event.

Ulrich Wolter: Volunteers are vital ambassadors of the Host Cities.

Among the 50 participants at the workshop were managers of the Host Cities as well representatives of airports, train stations and tourist offices of all four Ukrainian venues Kiew, Lviv, Kharkov and Donetzk.

"Volunteers are vital ambassadors of the Host Cities. Due to their wide-ranging contact with visitors they contribute to create a positive lasting impression of the tournament. We are delighted and pleased to share our experience with the Ukrainian Host Cities”, said DFB Consulting CEO Ulrich Wolter.
