DFB Consulting trained Airport Volunteers in Ukraine

On behalf of the German International Cooperation (GIZ) and its project "Advisory services and managerial capacity development for Euro 2012", DFB Consulting trained the airport volunteers in the four Ukrainian Host Cities Kiev, Lviv, Kharkov and Donetsk.

From 10 to 19 May 2012, the airport volunteers, called "Airport Ambassadors" were trained for the upcoming UEFA Euro 2012. DFB Consulting prepared these 550 Volunteers in nine workshops for the tasks and challenges associated with their work.

Besides preparing the volunteers for challenging situations and sensitise them for cultural differences, the main focus of the training was to show them how to become good ambassadors for the UEFA Euro 2012 tournament, how to communicate with fans, and how to help and welcome them.

"The volunteers are looking forward with enthusiasm to the tournament and are excited to meet and help fans from all over Europe. They are very committed and well prepared", said Markus Wieser from DFB Consulting, who was in charge of the training for the Airport Ambassadors. "We tried to make the training sessions as realistic as possible, including a lot of role plays where they could easily learn how to communicate with guests, help them and make them feel welcome".

"Volunteers are important ambassadors of the Host Cities. They are the visiting fans' first contact with the tournament and therefore they contribute to a positive impression of the tournament. We are delighted and pleased to share our experience in Volunteer Management with the Ukrainian Host Cities", said DFB Consulting CEO Ulrich Wolter.
