Deal done: Confed Cup winner Wagner moves to FC Bayern

Sandro Wagner has moved from 1899 Hoffenheim to Bayern Munich. The Confed Cup winner joins the record champions from the 1st January 2018 until 2020.

“We’re convinced Sandro has the quality to improve our team due to his experience”, said sporting director, Hasan Salihamidzic. Wagner is extremely excited about his return to his home town Munich where he played for Bayern until 2008.

“A long journey comes to its end”

“A long journey is coming to an end. I’m coming home to my club in my home town”, said Wagner: “I’m very happy that everything’s worked out. Bayern are the best club in Germany and one of the best in the world. When the offer came in, I didn’t have to think about it for very long.”

After featuring from MSV Duisburg, Werder Bremen, 1. FC Kaiserslautern, Hertha BSC and Darmstadt 98, the attacker moved to Hoffenheim in 2016. In a TSG shirt, he scored 18 goals in 50 games. In a Germany shirt, he’s made seven appearance scoring five goals. Last summer, he joined up with Joachim Löw’s Die Mannschaft for the Confed Cup which the side ended up as victors.
