Dahoud and the U20 side to take part in Elite Cup

Mahmoud Dahoud, Levin Öztunali or Grischa Prömel – the Germany U20 side have named a strong squad ahead of their upcoming international matches. From the 7th to the 13th of October, they will take part in the Mercedes-Benz Elite Cup in Baden-Württemberg. Manager Frank Wormuth, who has named a squad of 23 players, wants to use the opportunity to work on his team’s style of play and test themselves against strong opponents.

On the 7th October (18:00 CEST) the U20 side have their first match of the Elite Cup. They face Turkey in the Donaustadion in Ulm. Three days later they play the Netherlands (18:00 CEST) in the Scholz-Arena in Aalen. Their final match will see them play England on the 13th October in the Voith-Arena in Heidenheim. Tickets are still available for all three matches.

Home advantage for four players

The crowd can look forward to seeing a few familiar faces. As well as Bundesliga players Levin Öztunali (Werder Bremen), Mahmoud Dahoud, Marvin Schulz (both Borussia Mönchengladbach) and Gian-Luca Waldschmidt (Eintracht Frankfurt), there are four players in the squad who come from Baden-Württemberg. Karlsruher SC have two representatives in Boubacar Barry und Grischa Prömel, and SG Sonnenhof Großaspach’s Maximilian Dittgen, and SC Freiburg’s Tim Kleindienst are also included in the squad.

In the previous international break in September, the U20s had two matches. The first was a close 1-2 defeat to Poland, the second a deserved 2-0 win over Italy. Turkey, the Netherlands and England represent three more exciting challenges for Frank Wormuth’s young team.
