The 21-year-old defender was taken to Dusseldorf University Hospital and underwent surgery late on Friday night.
Da Costa, who has been one of Ingolstadt’s linchpins so far this season, suffered the injury after colliding with Düsseldorf’s Lukas Schmitz in the eleventh minute. “It’s a real blow for us,” said manager Ralph Hasenhüttl.
