Cottbus relegated after defeat in Frankfurt

After losing 1-3 at FSV Frankfurt on round 32 of the Second Bundesliga Energie Cottbus is relegated to 3. Liga. Energie have suffered a torrid campaign after an well eight-placed finish last season. Coach Rudi Bommer was sacked in November and his replacement Stephan Schmidt lasted only nine league games before he suffered a similar fate. On Sunday SC Paderborn kept their hopes of their first ever Bundesliga promotion alive. The team coached by André Breitenreiter beat SV Sandhausen 2-0 (0-0). Meanwhile rivals FC St. Pauli and Karlsruher SC dropped important points. KSC played 2-2 (1-1) at Dynamo Dresden. St. Pauli lost at home 0-3 (0-1) against VfR Aalen

On Monday, 1. FC Kaiserslautern could not keep the pressure up on Greuther Fürth and Paderborn playing 1-1 at Union Berlin on Monday.
