Commanding win for Khedira and Juventus

Sami Khedira and Juventus are going from win to win in Serie A. In their most recent match, Juve ran out 3-0 winners against bottom side Hellas Verona to secure their eighth league win in a row. After a streaky start to the league campaign, Juventus have now moved up to second place on 36 points. Fiorentina are currently top on 38 points after a 3-1 win at Palermo. Inter and Napoli, who face Empoli and Torino respectively this evening, can both move ahead of Khedira’s side with a win today.

Currently fifth are Antonio Rüdiger’s Roma (33 points), who played out a 3-3 draw at Chievo. Miroslav Klose and Lazio are tenth on 24 points and picked up a point against Carpi after a disappointing 0-0.

Strong performance from Khedria

Paulo Dybala put the Old Lady in front after only eight minutes at the Juventus Stadium with a curling free kick from 25 yards into the bottom right corner. Dybala was also involved in the second goal as a leaping Leonardo Bonucci headed in his cross just before halftime. Khedira put in an impressive performance until he was replaced by Stefano Sturaro after 70 minutes. Simone Zaza finished the job for Juventus in the 82nd minute as he rounded keeper Pierluigi Gollinie following a pass from Paul Pogba to make it 3-0.

Roma threw away a 2-0 lead against Chievo. Sadiq Umar and Alessandro Florenzi put the home side ahead before Alberto Paloschi and Dario Dainelli levelled things for the side from Verona. Roma retook the lead late on through Iago Falque, but Simone Pepe equalised again in the 85th minute for Chievo. Rüdiger completed the 90 minutes for Roma but was powerless to prevent the Chievo goals.

Klose made a substitute appearances after the hour mark for Lazio against Carpi and came close to scoring a winner three minutes before the end, but failed to convert his headed shot.
