Coaching and Technical Development Course (CTDC) Completed

The second CTDC was held in Hennef/Cologne at the renown Hennes-Weisweiler-Academy from 25th August to 2nd September. 17 participants from 10 different countries including both coaches and technical staff were taught on a variety of topics concerning the game on and off the pitch.

The training sessions touched upon virtually every aspect, from goalkeeping to putting pressure on the opposing defence. The coaching elements of the course contained challenge-based education modules, encouraging participants to demonstrate and evaluate their coaching style/techniques and knowledge. Training sessions were prepared and conducted by the participants together with experienced DFB instructors. In addition to the coaching sessions, the CTDC also consisted of modules regarding off-pitch organization. For example, the DFB's playing philosophy was explained as well as its talent development programme.

As the CTDC is not only about learning but also about getting to know the practical implementations of the game, there were a series of field trips during the course. Attendees of the course were able to witness live football action on three different occasions. The Under-19 Bundesliga match MSV Duisburg vs Borussia Dortmund, the second league Match 1. FC Köln vs Energie Cottbus and finally the Bundesliga match FC Schalke 04 vs FC Augsburg were all attended for the purpose of match observation and match analysis. CTDC participants were also given a presentation of FC Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund's stadium and youth facilities and their respective talent promotion concepts. Borussia Dortmund icon Lars Ricken and current two-time championship winning head coach Jürgen Klopp also took the time to meet with the participants.

The CTDC participants were pleased with the accommodation at Hennes-Weisweiler-Academy and praised the quality and qualifications of the instructors and the course topics.
