Captain Draxler: "We deserved to draw"

Thanks to a late equaliser from Joshua Kimmich (88’) the Germany national team claimed a deserved 1-1 draw against Denmark in Copenhagen. Captain Julian Draxler was satisfied with the performance of the new-look Germany team, as was head coach Joachim Löw. DFB.de brings you all the reaction:

JOACHIM LÖW: "There were more positives than negatives. It was a good test of where we are. We only had one training session, so I’m very happy. The commitment levels from everyone was very good, we can work on coordination in the coming days."

JULIAN DRAXLER: "Aside from the unnecessary goal conceded, we had some good chances in the first half. We didn’t play badly and in the end, the draw was deserved. It’s a big honour to be captain. But I know that a few things were lacking. I will use the Confed Cup as a chance to prove my qualities as a leader."

KEVIN TRAPP: "It’s something very special to put on this shirt. You always have the goal to play. Right now I’m happy to have played my first game."

LEON GORETZKA: "Our preparation wasn’t ideal. We only trained together once. We would have liked to have won, but when you equalise so late, you have to be satisfied with the draw. There is a lot of excitement for the Confed Cup. It’s a good opportunity to prove yourself.

SANDRO WAGNER: "I think that was a decent performance. We pretty much came straight from the beach. After just one session, we did very well. 1-1 is a fair result."
