Can wins with Liverpool against Arsenal

A big victory for Germany international Emre Can, manager Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool: The Reds beat Arsenal 3-1 in the Premier League on Saturday. Shkrodan Mustafi played for The Gunners, but they had to do without Mesut Özil, who was injured. Leicester City also won, beating Hull City 3-1 to distance themselves five points from the relegation zone.

Roberto Firmino (9’), Sadio Mané (40’) and Georginio Wijnaldum (90+1) scored for Liverpool, who came into the game having only won two of their last twelve, meaning Klopp was under pressure. Danny Welbeck scored for Arsenal in the 57th minute. The victory meant Liverpool moved up to 3rd place with 52 points, even though The Reds have played more games than any other team in England. Whilst Ron-Robert Zieler remained on the bench, Leicester cancelled out Kamil Grosicki’s (14’) opener with goals from Christian Fuchs (27’), Riyad Mahrez (59’), as well as a Tom Huddlestone own goal (90’).

A defeat for AS Roma and Germany international Antonio Rüdiger: In the battle for an automatic Champions League qualification spot, third placed Napoli closed the gap to just two points after beating second placed Roma 2-1. Belgian international Dries Mertens bagged a brace (26’, 50’) whilst Strootman (89) scored for Roma. Rüdiger was deployed as a right-back. Sami Khedira plays on Sunday against Udinese, and Juventus will pull away ten points clear in the event of a win.
