Can the Germany women’s U19s go out on a high?

The Germany U19 women’s team will face Austria in their final European U19 Championship group match in Slovakia (19th to 31st July) at 18:00 CEST in Senica. Germany can no longer qualify for the knockout rounds after losing their first two games of the tournament 1-0 to Spain and 4-2 to Switzerland. Maren Meinert’s team will thus be hoping to leave the tournament on a high with a victory against Austria.

Austria, who are competing in their first women’s U19 EURO, are also already out of the tournament following the second round of group matches after losing both of their games so far 4-0. Germany will not be underestimating the tournament newcomers: “Whoever wins in the elite round has a strong squad for the particular age group. We want to put in a good performance against Austria,” said Meinert.

Spain, Switzerland and the Netherlands have already secured their place in the semi-finals on 28th July. France and Norway can both still progress from Group A along with the Netherlands. The final we be played on 31st July in Senec.
