Can scores in Liverpool win over Watford

Emre Can was on the scoresheet, as Liverpool moved to the top of the Premier League table on matchday 11. Liverpool were convincing winners in their home game against Watford, beating the away side 6-1 and leading the league table for the first time under their German head coach Jürgen Klopp.

Can (43’) scored Liverpool’s third of the game just before the break. Sadio Mane (27’, 60’), Philippe Coutinho (30’), Roberto Firmino (57’) and Georginio Wijnaldum (90+1’) scored Liverpool’s other goals. Dutchman Daryl Janmaat (75’) scored a consolation effort for the visitors.

Özil and Mustafi draw with Arsenal

Mesut Özil and Shkodran Mustafi missed the chance to go top of the Premier League table with Arsenal, after they drew 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby. A victory would have been enough for the Gunners to climb to the summit of the league table.

After a headed own goal from former 1. FC Köln player Kevin Wimmer (43’), it was looking very comfortable for the home side. However, France national team player Laurent Koscielny then fouled Moussa Dembélé in the box and conceded a penalty. Harry Kane stepped up and held his nerve to equalise for Spurs in front of 60,039 spectators at the Emirates Stadium (51’).

Champions Leicester lose at home

World Champion Ron-Robert Zieler’s Leicester City lost 2-1 at home to West Bromwich Albion, thanks to goals from James Morrison (52’) and Matt Phillips (72’). Meanwhile Islam Slimani (55’) managed to score an equaliser for the reigning Premier League champions.

Zieler played the full 90 minutes for the home side, who were missing first-team keeper Kasper Schmeichel. The Dane broke his hand in Leicester’s 0-0 draw with Copenhagen, in the mid-week Champions League game.
