Can plays full 90 minutes as Liverpool draw 2-2

Just 48 hours after featuring in Liverpool's 1-0 triumph over Manchester City, Emre Can was giving a starting role for Liverpool as they prepared to meet Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Despite the earlier win, Liverpool still found themselves needing to make up ground on league leaders Chelsea, but Jürgen Klopp's side were unable to do so, drawing 2-2 with relegation-threatened Sunderland. Liverpool remain Chelsea's closest challengers, but could go eight points behind them by tomorrow evening, should the Blues beat Tottenham Hotspur (kick off at 21:00 CET).

Liverpool started the brighter side, taking the lead in the 20th minute through Daniel Sturridge. However, Sunderland were back level within five minutes through a Jermain Defoe penalty. Liverpool took the lead again fairly late in the game thanks to a short-range finish from Sadio Mané, but were once again pegged back by a Defoe penalty, this time with just six minutes to spare.

Leicester finish honours even

Leicester drew 0-0 with Middlesbrough in their Premier League encounter this afternoon. The stalemate sees them sit in 14th place, six points clear of the relegation zone. Former Germany national team player Robert Huth played the full 90 minutes, while Ron-Robert Zieler vacated his spot in this side for Kasper Schmeichel.
