Can makes successful comeback

Germany international Emre Can made a successful come back for Liverpool after four weeks out through injury. The 22-year-old made an appearance in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over English second tier side Derby County when he was brought on by Reds’ manager Jürgen Klopp in the 57th minute.

Ragnar Klavan, Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi all got on the scoresheet for Liverpool in the iPro stadium in Derby.

Wenger without Mustafi and Özil

Arsenal have also made it to the last 16 of the competition with a 4-0 away win over Nottingham Forest. Manager Arsene Wenger rested Germany internationals Shkodran Mustafi and Mesut Özil, while Per Mertesacker is still sidelined through injury.

Former Gladbach man Granit Xhaka and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored either side of a brace from Lucas Perez to give the Gunners a comfortable victory in the League Cup.

Trapp on the bench for PSG

Paris Saint-Germain put themselves top of the French Ligue 1 with a 3-0 win over Dijon FCO, as DFB goalkeeper Kevin Trapp spent 90 minutes on the bench. The defending champions are two points clear of OGC Nice (11) and are level on points with AS Monaco (13) but have gone top due to their superior goal difference. PSG’s two main competitors will be facing off on Wednesday night in a top of the table clash.

An early own goal from Ádám Lang set PSG on their way before Edinson Cavani converted from the spot as well before half time. Brazilian winger Lucas put the finishing touches on to the 3-0 win in the 67th minute.
