BVB's winning streak continues

Borussia Dortmund’s record breaking sequence of victories continued in the Europa League earlier this evening. The Bundesliga table toppers beat Russia’s FK Krasnodar 2-1, meaning they have won all 10 of their competitive games in 2015/16. Summer signing Joo Ho Park grabbed the winner in injury time.

Thomas Tuchel admitted that his side “took a while to get into the game” but sporting director Michael Zorc told Sky that he was relieved that “everything came together towards the end. We missed a couple of chances though – it could have been better.”

World Cup winner Ginter levels

Pawel Mamajew (12’) surprised the majority of the 55,200 spectators by giving the Russians an early lead. World Cup hero Matthias Ginter grabbed the equaliser in first half injury time to level the scores.

Tuchel made four changes to the side that beat Hannover 96 4-2 at the weekend. Park, who signed from Mainz in the summer, came into the XI, as did Adnan Januzaj, who joined the club on loan from Manchester United towards the end of the transfer window. The latter impressed throughout and the former set up the equaliser before netting the winner.

Dortmund struggled at the back early on and the visitors took the lead after a Ginter error. Goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller, whose only previous competitive appearance this season came in the DFB Cup, was unable to save Mamajew’s close range effort.

The visitors were strong on the counter and troubled Dortmund throughout an enthralling first half, however, the hosts had their chances - Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang both missed presentable opportunities before Ginter headed home Park’s cross in injury time.

BVB get stronger as game progresses

BVB grew into the game after the break but weren’t dangerous in the early exchanges. However, as the end drew near both Januzaj and Aubameyang came close to hitting the back of the net. Sergej Petrow cleared an Adrian Ramos off the line late on before Park clinched a dramatic late victory for Dortmund with just seconds left on the clock.
