BVB to face Austrian side in Europa League qualifier

Borussia Dortmund will line up against Wolfsberger AC in their Europa League qualifier. The Austrian side won the second leg of their tie with Shakhtyor Soligorsk of Belarus, and so booked their place in the next round. Michael Sollbauer and Philip Hellqvist got the goals for Wolfsberg in a 2-0 victory, after they had also won the first leg away from home 1-0.

Dortmund, who enter the competition at the third qualifying round, will face two hurdles in their attempt to progress to the Europa League group stages. The first is the two-legged tie against Wolfsberg, with the away leg being played in Austria on Thursday before Thomas Tuchel and his side host their opponents one week later, on 6th August, at the Signal Iduna Park.

Should BVB get through their tie with Wolfsberg, they will then line up for the second and final hurdle – the play-off against another, stronger opponent. The draw for this final round will take place on 7th August in Nyon.

The Dortmund squad are currently on a training camp in Bad Ragaz in Switzerland. On Saturday evening (19:00 CEST), BVB play a friendly against Juventus Turin in St. Gallen in what will be a replay of the 1997 Champions League Final.
