Hamburger SV have appointed a new manager. Bruno Labbadia has signed a 15 month contract, which will see the 49-year-old remain in charge past the end of the season irrespective of league status. Eddy Sözer will be assistant manager.
"We want to put fresh impetus into the relegation battle and we are pleased that we have got Bruno Labbadia, a strong manager but also one experienced with teams in similar positions, on board,” said chairman Dietmar Beiersdorfer.
Bruno Labbadia will run his first training session today and will take to the dugout on Sunday (15:30 CEST) for the North Derby against Werder Bremen. “I expect all players to be fully committed and passionate in the coming weeks. We need to quickly achieve positive results,” he commented.
