Boateng, Kimmich and Kroos in UEFA's Team of the Tournament

It’s an honour for Jérôme Boateng, Toni Kroos and Joshua Kimmich. The Germany trio has been selected in UEFA’s EURO 2016 XI after strong performances at the European Championship. Boateng was nominated at centre-back alongside Pepe, with Kimmich in the team at right-back. The back four is completed by Dortmund new boy Paulo Guerreiro and European Champion Rui Patricio was named the tournament's best goalkeeper.

Toni Kroos and Wales international Joe Allen make up the defensive midfield with Aaron Ramsey, another player from the tournament’s surprise semi-finalists, being selected in attack alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and the French duo of Antoine Griezmann and Dimitri Payet. Golden boot winner Griezmann was voted as the Player of the Tournament by the UEFA panel.

“He was a danger in every match he played. He works hard for his team, has a good eye and is technically gifted, as well as being a top quality finisher,” explained chairman of the UEFA technical committee Loan Lupescu when talking about the striker. Former Bundesliga coach Thomas Schaaf and former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson were also members of the voting panel.
