Benjamin Köhler back in training after cancer treatment

After beating lmyphoma, Benjamin Köhler (35) is about to start individual training again at Union Berlin. "I'm back again," said Köhler to Bild. He completed a fitness test at Heidelberg’s university clinic in the last couple of days. "The doctors were pleasantly surprised at the results," said Köhler.

Köhler will apparently receive his first training plan this week. According to the plan, he is expected to complete three gym/running sessions per week, with the workload being slowly increased. "Everything is going well so far. It’s impossible to say how long it will take. My goal though is to be fully involved in training for the second half of the season, and hopefully play some games," said Köhler.

At the beginning of February, a cancerous tumour was found in his lymphatic system (Hodgkin's lymphoma), resulting in a round of chemotherapy. By the middle of July, Köhler announced that there were "no cancerous cells" left in his body.
