Bayern wins easily, Stuttgart and Schalke without problems

Bayern München rolled over FC Ingolstadt in a 6-0 (1-0) rout to advance to the round three of the German cup. Coach Jupp Heynckes rested several star players, but Ingolstadt got stomped over in the second half.

Defending cup champion FC Schalke won 2-0 (0-0) at Karlsruhe and favorites Stuttgart and Hertha BSC also stayed on track. The lonely surprise in the matches on wednesday happened in Kiel, where Holstein, a team from the fourth league, defeated last years runner-up MSV Duisburg 2-0 (0-0).

German champions Borussia Dortmund advanced to round three of the German cup by winning 2-0 (1-0) against second division side Dynamo Dresden. Polish striker Robert Lewandowski and German international Mario Götze scored.

Borussia Mönchengladbach won after penalties at third league side 1. FC Heidenheim. Hamburger SV beat Eintracht Trier from fourth league at extra time.
