Bayern to play Atlético in the Champions League semis

Record German champions Bayern München’s final stepping stone on the road to the Champions League final is a meeting with Atlético Madrid. The draw for the semi-finals of the competition was made on Friday morning in Nyon. The team from the Spanish capital, who knocked out Barcelona in the quarterfinals, were Bayern’s opponents in the 1974 European Cup final, the Munich club’s first triumph in the tournament.

Bayern will travel to Madrid for the first leg on 27th April, before welcoming Atlético to the Allianz Arena a week later on 3rd May. In the other semi-final, Toni Kroos’ Real Madrid side will take on Pep Guardiola’s future club Manchester City. The final will take place on 28th May in Milan.
