Bayern to host Braunschweig - Attractive draws for underdogs

Defending champions FC Bayern München will be pleased with the draw for the last 16 of the DFB Cup – the Bundesliga leaders will host second-division side Eintracht Braunschweig. The draw for the third round of the tournament was made on Wednesday evening by newsreader Judith Rakers and Germany U21s coach Horst Hrubesch.

There is only one all-Bundesliga tie in the last 16, with SC Freiburg set to face 1. FC Köln. The two third-tier sides and the one remaining Regionalliga outfit each have attractive fixtures to look forward to: Arminia Bielefeld will face Werder Bremen, Dynamo Dresden will host Borussia Dortmund and fourth-division outfit Kickers Offenbach will play Borussia Mönchengladbach. Second-tier RB Leipzig (against VfL Wolfsburg) and VfR Aalen (against 1899 Hoffenheim) have also been handed home advantage. Just like last season, 1. FC Kaiserslautern will travel to Bayer Leverkusen.

The draw contained nine Bundesliga teams, four second-division sides, two third-tier outfits and a single Regionalliga club.

The last-16 ties will be played on 3rd and 4th March 2015.

The draw at a glance:

Bayer Leverkusen vs. 1. FC Kaiserslautern
Kickers Offenbach vs. Borussia Mönchengladbach
Bayern München vs. Eintracht Braunschweig
VfR Aalen vs. 1899 Hoffenheim
RB Leipzig vs. VfL Wolfsburg
Arminia Bielefeld vs. Werder Bremen
SC Freiburg vs. 1. FC Köln
Dynamo Dresden vs. Borussia Dortmund
