Bayern in Audi Cup final against Kroos and Real Madrid

Bayern München have made sure of the dream final at the Audi Cup. The German champions deservedly beat AC Milan 3-0 just three days after the defeat to VfL Wolfsburg in the Supercup.

Pep Guardiola’s team will now face Real Madrid and the returning Toni Kroos on Wednesday in the final of the high-quality tournament. Real qualified by beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 despite the absence of the injured Cristiano Ronaldo. Even before the season begins, the fans are getting a whiff of Champions League action.

Thiago and Arjen Robben were spared for Bayern, but Juan Bernat put them into the lead with a deflected shot in the 23rd minute. Germany international Mario Götze made it 2-0 for the champions, who previously won the 2009 and 2013 editions of the tournament. Robert Lewandowski put the icing on the cake with a volley into the corner of the net in the 85th minute.

In the previous game, James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale both scored to ensure the win for Real. World Cup winner Kroos directed the play from Real’s midfield with numerous touches of the ball until he was substituted at half time.
