Bayern extend their lead at the top

FC Bayern remain on course to lift the title for the 25th time in their history. On Saturday they beat Werder Bremen 4-0. Elsewhere, Eintracht Frankfurt beat beat Paderborn 2-0, Mainz won in Augsburg, Schalke drew in Berlin and Hoffenheim came out on top against Hamburg.

Müller puts Bayern on score for victory

Pep Guardiola continued to rotate his side for today’s game in Bremen. The Bavarians had the first chance of the game but Raphael Wolf athletically tipped Robert Lewandowski’s header over the bar. Moments later Thomas Müller (24’) fired them in front with a fabulous effort from the edge of the area. On the stroke of half time David Alaba fired home another expert free kick.

In the second half two tap-ins from Robert Lewandowski put the icing on the cake for Bayern. Captain Philipp Lahm, who had been out of action for nearly four months, came off the bench to make his first team return.

Polanski’s brace sees off HSV

The game between Hoffenheim and Hamburg burst into life in the 19th minute. Hamburg keeper Jaroslav Drobny brought down Sven Schipplock in the box and received a red card for his troubles. René Adler, his replacement, was unable to keep out Eugen Polanski’s penalty.

Hamburg didn’t offer much throughout the game. Polanski grabbed his second of the afternoon with nine minutes left on the clock and Germany international Sebastian Rudy wrapped up the scoring six minutes later. It ended 3-0 to TSG.

Late equaliser for Schalke

Hertha took the lead in the capital thanks to Änis Ben-Hatira’s 21st minute goal. Man of the moment Leroy Sané equalised for the visitors shortly before half time after waltzing through the backline and chipping the keeper from a tight angle. Genki Haraguchi restored the home side’s leader but Joel Matip’s late equaliser rescued a point for the Royal Blues.

Alex Meier scores his 75th Bundesliga goal

Alex Meier put Frankfurt in front against Paderborn in the 27th minute with his 75th Bundesliga goal. Germany U19 star Marc Stendera doubled the lead (42’). Stefan Aigner made it 3-0 after 55 minutes and Nelson Valdez completed the scoring with eight minutes left on the clock.

Mainz won in Augsburg thanks to goals from Shinji Okazaki (32’) and Ja-Cheol Koo (89’).
