Germany coach Marcus Sorg will have to do without Timo Baumgartl (VfL Stuttgart) and Devante Parker (Mainz 05) at the European U19 Championship. The Stuttgart player took a blow and suffered an irritation of the patellar tendon, whilst Parker will miss out because of a muscle injury.
“Of course it’s a real shame for the players when you have to make yourself unavailable so soon before the start of a tournament,” says Sorg. “Timo and Devante have shown great commitment.” Both players will return home during the day.
Jannik Dehm (Karlsruher SC) and Niko Kijewski (Eintracht Braunschweig) have been called up as replacements. “I’d like to thank the clubs for their last-minute support. It once again shows how well the cooperation works,” says Sorg. “Dehm and Kijewski are expected to join the team in the evening.”
