Badstuber: Surgery went well

With knee surgery behind him, German international Holger Badstuber faces five months of injury lay-off. The 23-year old defender twisted his right knee during Saturday’s crunch encounter between Bayern München and Borussia Dortmund, which resulted in a 1-1 draw. Monday’s surgery on his torn cruciate ligament went well.

"Holger is devastated, he’s due to sit-out five months. We’re all hurting because of that", said München’s Chief Executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. “We will cope and we will support him in any way we can.”

The injury happened after 37 minutes in a one-on-one with Mario Götze. Jérôme Boateng, also a member of Joachim Löw’s team, took Badstuber’s place. Badstuber (30 caps) was a member of the 2010 World Cup and 2012 European Championship teams.
