Badstuber: "It was a hard fought victory"

It was another exciting week of action in the Bundesliga. A host of Germany internationals were involved and they spoke to DFB.de after their respective games. Here’s what Mats Hummels, Holger Badstuber, Thomas Müller, Ron-Robert Zieler, Christoph Kramer and Robin Knoche had to say after their respective games.

Hannover 96 1-3 Bayern München

Holger Badstuber: Hannover pulled everyone back and that made it hard. The pitch wasn’t easy either. We couldn’t move the ball as fast as we like to and we didn’t establish positions between the line. On top of that, they scored the opening goal. We improved in the second half. It was a hard-working victory.

Thomas Müller: We practice penalties with the national team from time to time, so [Hannover keeper] Ron-Robert Zieler knows me a bit – but apparently not well enough (laughs). Before I took it, I was wondering if I should do something differently. But I’ve done well with my system up to now so I didn’t change anything.

Mario Götze: We won in Hannover today! Let’s keep it up! Our focus is now on Wednesday!

Bastian Schweinsteiger: The game wasn’t easy, but we took three points anyway. Thanks to the fans for their support.

Ron-Robert Zieler: I think we put in a good performance. It’s annoying that we didn’t get rewarded.

Hamburger SV 0-0 Borussia Dortmund

Roman Weidenfeller: Initially we had to get used to the physical nature of the game, which we did pretty well in the end. Hamburg have really got their backs to the wall at the moment, so I guess this style of play is understandable. We have to be happy with the point and I think it's not too bad a result. If things had gone our way, then we might well have won the game.

Mats Hummels: One point was good enough to keep our distance from the drop zone, but it's not enough to move further up the table. Hamburg defended with absolutely everything they had. They adopted a physical approach, but it wasn't too physical. Ultimately I think we probably deserved to take all three points. The slightly better chances in the match fell to us and we could have dealt the killer blow in the closing stages of the game. In general, I think we often worked well to win the ball back, but weren't able to capitalise on our forays forward. We looked solid at the back too, which is a good sign.

Mainz 05 2-2 Borussia Mönchengladbach

Christoph Kramer: We faced a good Mainz side. Despite this, we went 2-0 up but then two set plays cost us. They were both avoidable goals to concede but that’s football. We could have made it 3-1 immediately after they scored and I think we also should have had a penalty. Every Bundesliga game is tough, which today proved.

FC Augsburg 1-0 VfL Wolfsburg

Robin Knoche: We were too passive in the first half. We weren’t focussed enough. On Thursday we need to perform like we did in the second half. We were always going to lose at some point, but we shouldn’t have today.
